Commitment to Community
At Artel Scaffolding we firmly believe in putting something back into the community. We do this not only by conducting our business in an ethical and sustainable way but also through our community involvement.
We have organised and taken part in a whole range of community events such as the Great British Bike Ride, London Marathon, Summer Soulstice, The Big Warm-Up, Meridian Pull Challenge, and many, many more!
Finchley Rugby Club
We have been involved with Finchley Rugby Club since Artel was founded. Our support started with an annual corporate sponsorship of the club but we soon decided that we wanted to help them out in a more organised way and the Finchley Fundraisers was born.
The Finchley 50 Cycle Ride which ran from 2011 to 2018 became a great local annual event. Riders either cycled a full 50-mile route through North London and Hertfordshire or worked together as a team taking a section each.
Pushing ourselves further we took on an epic 320 miles sponsored cycle from London to Paris in 2015 raising £6,000. Alongside the sponsored rides, we were delighted to have hosted summer balls and other brilliant events to support our much loved local club. To date, Artel has raised in excess of £17k for Finchley Rugby Club, replaced the roof of the clubrooms, and provided new perimeter fencing to the Number 1 playing field.
On Your Bike
Not content with just raising money for Finchley Rugby Club, we also threw in a couple of Great British Bike Rides for good measure. In 2011 and 2012, an Artel team cycled from Lands End to Twickenham raising money for HITZ and the Wooden Spoon Foundation.
We then saddled up again in 2016 to raise some much-needed funds for Myeloma UK, cycling from Whetstone, London to Westport, Mayo. We were delighted to hand over a cheque to Myeloma UK for £10, 578.50
Summer Soulstice
An event very close to our heart, the Summer Soulstice was created in 2014 and has become an integral part of the local summer season. This wonderful annual music festival has raised over £375,000 for Cherry Lodge Cancer Care – an organisation that supports people with cancer and their families. Each year Artel supplies and builds the stage and bars to set the scene for this brilliant family-friendly festival, which is enjoyed by so many and benefits even more.
Meridian Pull Challenge
In 2019 Artel entered two very competitive teams into the Meridan Pull Challenge – an 8.5-mile row along the Thames to raise money for The AHOY Centre Charity.
The AHOY Centre work with disadvantaged children, young vulnerable people and those with disabilities. They offer courses and programs to these young people, giving them the opportunity to learn new skills and qualifications to help them gain employment.
The Meridian Pull is an 8.5-mile row on the River Thames past the Houses of Parliament through the centre of London, under Tower Bridge with the finish at The AHOY Centre in Greenwich. We didn’t win the race but we did raise £4,000.
Looking forward to the 2021 rematch!
Wear It Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness
Since 2017 Artel has proudly been supporting the annual Wear It Pink Day raising money for Breast Cancer Research. Set up by the UK’s leading breast cancer research charity, Breast Cancer Now, we put our own scaffolding twist on Wear It Pink, sporting pink Hi-Vis across all of our sites and offices.
The Artel team and our clients make a great effort on the day, helping raise thousands in donations, which Artel doubles each year! We have now raised a total of £5,000 for Breast Cancer Now.
