SUMMARY
Our client, Concept Building Services (Southern) Limited, is a Building Services company managing the delivery of a wide range of infrastructure solutions, including an extensive portfolio of local authority and Ministry of Defence estate projects.
We were delighted to collaborate with them on the refurbishment of The British Transport Police offices in Blundell Street, London.
CHALLENGES
Challenges include a staggered programme of works with scaffolding and crews called to site as and when required. An extremely fragile roof required scaffolding to provide safe access for essential repair work and the high-security environment required us to adhere to stringent British Transport Police security protocols.
SOLUTION
Our crew were security checked, accredited and always escorted by a Site Manager. We obtained security clearance for several team members to ensure we were able to visit site at short notice as required.
We installed various types of scaffolding on site including a heavy-duty loading bay, independent access scaffolding for remedial works and beam work to create a hanging scaffold that spanned the fragile roof.
To assist trades to access work areas safely and with relative ease, we installed Haki staircases rather than ladder access allowing crews to take tools to the required locations in safety. Instead of towers, we installed a 20m long independent scaffold enabling crews to paint the structure and guttering safely.
CONCLUSION
Our client at Concept Building Services (Southern) Limited, Liam Baptiste has collaborated with us for several years and selected us for this project because we are NASC approved and provide an excellent end to end service from initial enquiry to completion of works.
Liam also values the integrity and discipline of our on-site teams who understand the levels of security on this site and share a goal to deliver projects to the highest possible standards.
